Is there a better way to spend a Thursday evening? It seems like the entire capital is looking forward to this show. BBC Radio 1’s finest Pete Tong will take to the stage at The Wright Venue alongside the much admired Flashmob for what promises to be an enticing affair. Dublin promoters JACK (who have been at the heart of a lot of exciting ventures of late) have the perfect occasion for an afterparty with mainroom icons Calvin Harris and Tiesto making their returns to Ireland on the same eve. With Tong also firmly positioned on that lineup it appears that the crowds will be making their way towards Swords in large numbers.
The Radio 1 legend is bonafide dance music royalty with everyone from SHM to Solomun recognizing the importance of the man who has been at the helm of dance music since 1991 on UK radio. Renowned as the man who knows how to pick a tune his ear for new music has distinguished him over the years. He’s also a very talented man behind the decks bringing his own brand of tech house flavoured with some of his own stellar productions. WWD has had the pleasure of seeing this man work a crowd and it’s fair to see his experience stands to him.
Whats ideal about this gig is the value for money. Pete will be joined on the night by the much loved Flashmob. The duo comprised of Alessandro Magaini and Danny Minchella have a fervent fan base in Ireland following sold out shows at Lost Society and more recently The Button Factory. With smashes like Hot, Need In Me and more recently a wonderful remix of The Pet Shop Boys they are the perfect compliment to the tech manoeuvres of Pete Tong. Tasty Christmas fare if ever we’ve seen it.
