Greek producer Nikola Gala steps up for the latest release on UK imprint New Violence Records. Gala has delivered two peak-time techno dingers in his ‘Serge EP’ and it comes accompanied by a remix from Dutchman of the moment ONNO.
Gala, who has previously impressed on the likes of Ibadan, Freerange, and Rekids, took time this week to give us his thoughts on the release, he’s also shared an exclusive full premiere of the lead cut!
WWD: We first came across you when your track ‘dope beat’ was released. The reasoning for naming that EP as such is fairly obvious, it’s dope. How did you come about naming the Serge EP?
Serge (resonant Eq) is the latest module I installed in my eurorack system,it sounds great and I thought to name the EP after it.
WWD: It’s a great EP and Serge 93 is our favourite. Do you have one?
Yes,maybe 93 is my pick too.
WWD: ONNO did a great job on remix duty. What do you look for when selecting an artist to remix your tracks?
I expect the remixer to add his personal touch to my sounds, simple.
WWD: What’s your schedule like for the summer? Are you mainly gigging or producing?
I’ve got a couple of gigs confirmed so I guess I will have lots of hours in the studio.
WWD: What’s your favourite place to play and why?
Germany and London , party time guaranteed.
WWD: Like most Djs I’m sure you have done a lot of travelling. Where was the Best food you’ve ever had while on the road and what was it?
Maybe you don’t expect it but the pizza I had in Napoli was the best pizza in my life, just a Margherita. Food I had in Skopje was also great.
WWD: As a spectator, what’s the best gig you’ve ever been to and why?
I think it was with Dixon a few years ago at P.Bar on a Sunday evening, listened to him for 3-4 hours, tune after tune, that was great.
WWD: Can you give us a couple of tracks that you think are gonna huge this season?
I am not sure if these are going to be huge for others but for me Sigha’s latest album TECHNO DERIVATIVES on Avian is a great piece of futuristic sounds.
