Lithuanian producer Zoé Zoe born Mantas Stonkus steps up for the latest episode of our Prima Lux series. His “Church” EP, received some high rated reviews and attention back when it was released which brought our attention to him, including some of his recent tracks. His tracks are both ambitious and full of intensity that offer the listener an interesting groove, which leads us to the expertly crafted mix he has provided for us today. We also got together with Mantas to find out a little bit more about the man behind the name, Zoé Zoe.
WWD: So from the beginning, how did you first become involved in music?
To be honest, I can’t remember. But I’m pretty sure it involved me being a baby and my lovely mother talking to me for the first time and it sounded like music from heavens. This is how all humans become involved in music.
WWD: Would you say that you have a particular approach in producing tracks?
I think I do. Lets look at the logical side of it. My setup includes a crappy laptop (which is broken at the moment), Cubase version 5 and sometimes Cubase LE 7, akai mini midi keyboard and a bunch of samples, vst’s. So yes, one way or another I’m doomed to approach it the same way, it doesn’t matter from which angle I’m doing it. But the irony of this is that at the moment I like it that way.
WWD: We are always curious here at WWD to find out what you’re currently listening to at the moment, would you care to share what those are?
WWD: Have you got any shows or anything in the works over the coming months that you would like to share with our readers?
I have two EP’s lined up. One is pretty much done and expect it to come out early next year, the other one is still in the works. That is how specific and honest I can be at the moment. I’m really excited to share the news on any given day, as my morning sun is the witness.
WWD: What can our readers expect to find in the mix you have created for us this week?
For the people, who enjoy dancing to slow whirlwinds.
WWD: Thanks for taking the time out to chat with us.
It was a pleasure, thanks for having me dear WWD.
