Drenched in transcendental atmosphere and evocative soundscapes, Boxia’s music and performances seem to have caught the eyes of exactly the right people, culminating in his recent chart successes. His growing reputation for crafting beautiful, nuanced and ultimately very powerful electronic music is driven by his understanding of the dancefloor as a DJ, producer and raver.
Boxia broke through with a brace of EPs across 2015 into 2016, including his first cut “Revolution” on Drumcode, which featured on the label’s A-Sides Volume5.
Early 2017 saw his”ColourSequence”debutforAlanFitzpatrick’sWe Are The Brave label, which was awarded B.Traits’ prestigious Future Sonic Selection and attracted high praise from Mixmag (“this new one from Boxia – an artist with a lot of promise –is just what the techno doctor ordered”,) DJ Mag USA (“Boxia’s latest EP has us itching to get to a dancefloor”) as well as featuring on Monika Kruse’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.
In Summer 2017, Boxia returned with the appropriately named ‘Point of No Return’ EP, with the title track obliterating dancefloors in clubs and festivals across the globe. From Junction 2 to Movement Detroit, his euphoric anthems gained considerable support from techno heavyweights such as Adam Beyer, Carl Cox and of course Mr Fitzpatrick himself.
Later in 2017, Boxia secured his spot on B.Traits’ Future 12 Selection, delivering four stellar mixes for the Radio One show. He ended 2017 on a high note, offering a remix for Maya Jane Coles’ track “Weak” included on her critically acclaimed “Take Flight” album.
2018 has so far seen the highly anticipated “Ethereal Education” EP dropped in March, marking the artist’s re-entry into the Drumcode world. This was quickly followed up with a classy submission for Drumcode Radio and a string of Drumcode Showcases across Europe, with plenty more to come.
