Jamie Jones, Agoria and Deniz Kurtel remix “Vermillion” [Crosstown Rebels]

Damian Lazarus and The Ancient Moons, are next in line to release a fresh new single on the famous Crosstown Rebels label. Due to be released on April 10th “Vermillion” is the lead single off the upcoming album “Message From The Other Side”, which is due to hit the shelves on May 18th.

Vermillion comes with a host of remix’s from artists such as Jamie Jones, Agoria and Deniz Kurtel. The original track starts off with an almost tribal feel to it. A deep bass kick along with some light bongos creating an unusual but welcomed feeling. That is, until a plethora of light hearted synths come into play along with a commanding male vocal which goes on to play the main feature in this track with everything revolving in a very relaxed and graceful manner around it.

Jamie Jones pupkit remix seems like the most ‘club’ focused track of the lot. With a more upbeat tempo and sharper drums this already feels like a track that will slot nicely into almost any dj’s set. Futuristic sounding synths are a far cry from the tribal atmosphere that was created so beautifully in the original production. Jones is well capable of remixing a track with the best of them and flex’s his create muscles to great effect on this one.

Then there is Agoria’s remix which is my personal favourite of the lot. This is the most relaxed track on the release, one which focuses primarily on the male vocal. Agoria has stripped back everything else to allow the beautiful vocals to really have centre stage and speak their message. This feels like it belongs in sunrise sets on a warm beach somewhere. I could see this track being the biggest of the remix’s on this release and coming to be viewed as not simply a remix but as a separate body of work in its own right. Which is often the most that a producer can hope for when remixing a track.
