Jona is a name some of you might not know, but you should! When somebody like Alex Niggemann holds someone in such high regard, you take note.
Although Jona may have somewhat slipped under our radar, he is no newcomer to the scene. Having been producing for many years now, it shines through in his accomplished productions. Such is the standard he sets, Jona is set to release his debut artist album on Niggemann’s Aeon label next year. The album will be released in 2 stages from January 22nd.
‘Sidetracking – Part 1: Prologue’ is the first vinyl taste of Jona’s debut album project. The musical puzzle will be completed in February 2016, with the release of the full 10-track album on CD/Digital format. With Jona being an integral part to the Aeon stable, its release will be a significant moment for both him and label alike.
Take a listen to the quality mix he’s rinsed for us below and you will notice the diversity of his selection. This diversity is reflected in the forthcoming album as he’s pulled from many musical inspirations and friends to complete the project, and it will certainly reflect in the 5 records he’s selected for us below, that never leave his record bag.

Jona (AEON) – 5 Records That Never Leave My Record Bag And Why?
Soul Capsule – Lady Science (NYC Sunrise Mix) [Trelik]
The beautiful pads and trippy atmosphere make it a perfect set closer. A very hypnotic track I never get tired of.
Calibre – Getter Go [The Nothing Special]
I’ve been following Craig Richards’ label, and this for me sums up exactly what I like in Craig’s deejaying: funky, clever music. This track can work at very different times in a set, building bridges between different vibes. It helps me cross from deeper sounds to something rougher.
Jack De Marseille – Got To Believe [Wicked Music]
Driving techno that has its perfect spot in peak time, whenever there needs to be more energy. I started playing this one more than ten years ago, and it hasn’t lost any of its effect in clubs.
Martin Buttrich – Stoned Autopilot (C2 Version) [Planet E]
One of my favourite remixes from Carl Craig. Great build up! This track is stripped down to its essence, where every element is at its own place. When that wicked bassline comes in, the whole thing doubles in intensity!
Daniel Avery – All I Need (Roman Flügel Remix) [Phantasy Sound]
Superb work on the chords, I like the way they evolve and how they fit so well with the other elements, especially to that driving bassline when it’s unleashed after the breaks. That combined with strong drums and a crazy lead synth in the end, makes this is an essential track for me.
