With a fully stacked line up for this year’s Weather Festival in Paris we thought we could lend a hand by giving our opinion on the 10 best artists to go and see this year. While there are some big names on the line up there are also some lesser known talent that we personally can’t wait to experience.
Dixon. Top of the list and the top of RA’s list of djs for the last two years running is Berlin native Dixon. Known the world over for throwing down some of the best sets around. He has been moving dance floors for quite some time now and rarely gives less than 100% behind the decks. Insane amounts of energy and creativity packed so neatly into his sets. By far one of the biggest names booked for this year’s festival.

DJ Nobu. all the way from Chiba city in japan. Known for heaving techno sets and legendary parties in his home town called future terror. One of Japans underground techno favourites and a rare sight over this side of the world. Well worth a visit to see how they do techno in the land of the rising sun.
Robert Hood (Hiphop set). Say the name Robert Hood and you immediately think of the pioneering Detroit techno DJ and producer. But this summer at Weather Festival we get to see a side of him that is rarely seen. This hiphop set is something not to be missed by the Detroit don.
Pender Street Steppers. All the way from Vancouver BC comes the Pender street steppers. Part of the Mood Hut collective record label. With their signature airy and ethereal kind of sound. They always bring something special with their playful and highly varied sets.
Point G (Live set). One of a series of French artists gracing the bill for this year’s festival. Weather have put large amounts of emphasis towards pushing home grown talent. Point G has made some serious ground in his career in the last 12 months. Along with developing a very reputable live set to boot.
DeFekt (Live). Another massive live set not to be missed comes in the form of Irelands very own DeFekt. The Cork man has put together one of the most talked about and exciting live techno sets around. Just off the back of a stellar performance at the infamous Berghain with Ansome. This man will be something to behold come June.
Anetha. Local DJ Anetha holds down a residency of the blocaus parties at concrete. Healthy doses of techno and acid house to match makes this impressive young DJ one to watch. With gigs around the world on a regular basis from everywhere from Berlin to infinity. The sky really seems to be the limit for her. Just one of the members of the home grown techno talent that goes to show the serious strength in depth coming out of Paris at the minute.
The Black Madonna. Smart Bar’s resident and creative director and one of the most interesting people in dance music. Both behind and away from the decks The black Madonna is making waves in dance music culture. With fluorescent sets that flow seamlessly from disco to Techno picking up everything in between. Highly respected in her field she is constantly pushing the envelope with both her sets and her attitude towards dance music culture. In her set expect a musical education and a sonic slap in the face to match.
UVB. Another French techno artist gaining serious momentum at the minute. UVB is the alias of Sébastien Michel. Sebastien has only been making techno for about three years now but his sound feels matured and developed way beyond his years. Like Anetha he has been playing hi music to dance floors around the world albeit for a shorter period. 2015 was the year when he decided to dedicate himself full time to techno and my oh my are we happy he did. UVB also recently started his own label, Body Theory Records which promises you everything from techno and beyond.
Francois X. The last name on our list and by no means the least. Francois X has established himself as one of the key members of the rapidly evolving techno scene in Paris. A close friend and colleague of the likes of Marcel Dettmann. Marcels inclusion of one of Francois’s tracks in his Fabric 77 mix CD gave Francois a massive platform to stand on as an artist. He holds down a residency at Parisian stronghold Concrete. His style as both a DJ and a producer is unique and colorful and he brings something more than just your average techno set when he is behind the decks.
