Where else is there for underground dance music to go other than the jungled beaches of the world’s most secluded destinations? SXM Festival is doing just that as they announced the phase 1 lineup this week for its sophomore return to the Caribbean island of St Martin on March 15-19. It features one hell of a billing ranging from the likes of Lee Burridge and Soul Clap to Nina Kraviz and Honey Dijon.
SXM’s origins lay firmly in an ideal of combining idyllic, unparalleled locations with some of the world’s best contemporary DJs and producers in the house and techno community. Its unique destination experience offers parties on white-sand beaches and boats as well as in villas and venues within the natural sprawl of the jungle. The island’s half Dutch and half French roots gives way to a rich culture of people and local cuisine, to which attendees can immerse themselves in.
The festival is quickly earning its reputation as a leading curator of underground house music whether it be legendary staple artists in the scene or the rising stars of the community. As founder of SXM, Julian Prince, words it, “our hope was to craft a lineup that reflected the talents of both men and women from across all corners of the globe and bring them to the oasis of St. Martin for a totally unique dance music experience.”
