Tobacco Dock’s infamous annual Easter rave makes it’s hotly anticipated return on the 31st March. As winter creeps into Spring, Hot Since 82’s Labyrinth party makes it’s debut in London’s Wapping, long-awaited after the success of the residency in Ibiza’s Pacha last summer. Steering clear of the tech house sound that has become so recyclable in recent years, Hot Since 82 offers up a curated lineup that delves deeper into the more minimal, dark, yet progressive, side of house and techno.
The Little Gallery sees Archie Hamilton serve up his take on dubby minimal, the archetypal East End sound that has its roots entrenched in Shoreditch nightclubs. Moscow Records runner, Fuse affiliate, and a prolifically talented DJ and producer, his set definitely isn’t one to be missed. There’s our top pick of the day, it’s most definitely one for the heads.
Down into the depths we go as the Car Park will be home to a three hour set from Dubfire. No nonsense, no prisoners, and a long enough time to allow him to forge a mix that leans more towards a crafted performance, rather than a regular DJ set. Matador will also be bringing his live performance to the Car Park, offering a trip through the more progressive side of the techno spectrum.
And onto the Great Gallery, arguably the jewel in Tobacco Dock’s crown. Watergate resident, Labyrinth resident, and label manager at Powerplant Records, La Fleur is a DJ who’s cemented herself as a force to be reckoned with. Fellow Watergate affiliate Butch will also be playing in the main room, and, the icing on the cake, Erick Morillo will be making his debut at Tobacco Dock. A true legend of the scene, we can’t wait to see what his performance has in store.
