Since its beginning, Circus has been known for showcasing the very best must-see talent from the world of House and Techno. A combination of some of the industry’s most sought-after names and the fastest rising stars, Circus boss Yousef has carefully curated an impressive line-up to bring to Liverpool this December for the annual Circus’ Christmas special.
One of the pioneering DJ’s of the dance music scene Laurent Garnier is set to headline Furnace with a special 3-hour set. With a career stretching over 30 years, the French DJ, Producer and Radio Presenter is a multi-faceted artist whose impact on the music scene is far-reaching. Transformed by music and passionate about the crowd, his legendary sets take the audience on a journey and he is sure to leave his mark on the Furnace at the top of this huge line-up.
Alongside Laurent Garnier is one of the UK’s most in-demand DJs in recent years, Hot Since 82. Known for his tech-led slant on deep house, he will be bringing the sound of his Knee Deep In Sound label to Liverpool. This year has seen him embark on an all-encompassing worldwide touring schedule, whilst maintaining his Labyrinth residency at Pacha, Ibiza. Outside of touring, he has recently released ‘Bloodlines’ ahead of his forthcoming ‘8-track’ album.
With both Circus and Dennis Ferrer keen to support the best in upcoming talent, Nasser Baker is a name that both have heavily supported over the last few months. Recently releasing ‘Say Something’ on Circus Recordings, which has gained huge support, picking up both Radio 1’s Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ and Pete Tong’s ‘Essential New Tune’. A true talent in the making, Baker has shown why two of the biggest names in the industry have paid such close attention to him. He now turns his attention to Circus’ Christmas Special as he makes his Liverpool debut.
Primed to headline the Camp area at the Circus Christmas celebration is Ben Klock, who will be making his Circus debut. Holding a residency at Berghain since 2005, he has established himself at the forefront of Berlin’s modern Techno movement. Priding himself on his ability to create a room rather than just play to it, it’s clear Klock will be a perfect addition to the line-up.
Making her Circus debut is Belgian DJ/Producer Charlotte De Witte. Despite being pretty new on the scene, she has already taken the techno world by storm with her own style of uncompromising and headstrong techno. She has had a busy year, playing worldwide including at Tobacco Dock, Amsterdam Central Station and Pacha, Ibiza. She now brings her signature sound to Liverpool this December.
Joining the line-up in the Camp area is House and Tech House legend Butch, who always allows himself to express his take on each genre, resulting in a consistently fresh and unique output. He has had releases on leading imprints including Desolat, Cocoon and Sei Es Drum, whilst maintaining a solid DJ schedule that’s seen him opening the minds and hearts of crowds at Fabric, DC-10 and his continuing ‘Down The Rabbit Hold’ residency at Berlin’s Watergate.
Manning the warm ups in both the Camp and Furnace areas are Circus residents Lewis Boardman and Scott Lewis, who are both rapidly becoming two of Liverpool’s rising stars. As far as Circus is known for its high standard of music, both artists are responsible for laying the groundwork at every party, with bumping warm-ups to get the dancefloor moving.
Headlining the Blade room is the winner of the 2018 DJ Award for Best Breakthrough Max Chapman, who will be playing a 3-hour set. 2018 has been a great year for Chapman with his Essential Mix in April, he’s had multiple releases out including on labels such as Kaluki Musik, and FFRR as well as playing a number of sets across Europe and America.
Joining Chapman in the Blade area is Circus regular and long-time collaborator Ki Creighton. Ki has long since been developing his craft under the Circus umbrella and recently released his remix of Kaz James’ ‘Life In Purple’ on Circus Recordings. Adding to the line-up is rising star George Smeddles, who has built an impressive understanding when it comes to the creation of the driving tech-house that has become his signature sound. Last and by certainly no means least, is Liverpool DJ/Producer James Organ, who started out as an Attendee of Circus before following Yousef and the Circus family closely and now finds himself playing the club night regularly.
