Making their debut on Labyrinth Clubs’ record label Labyrinth Music are Senses of Mind. The mysterious duo, regulars on Steyoyoke, Proton and Somatic, are bringing a fresh approach to progressive house. Known for their open-minded music policy, Labyrinth Music has chosen club residents, Joyhauser and Kevin de Vries to remix this EP, which marks the re-launch of the label since 2017, after taking a 2 year hiatus.

In original form, ‘Origins’ is a classic slice of contemporary prog with eastern promise. Sparse percussion and a firm 909 kick form the foundations as Senses of Mind hang all manner of sweeps, melodies and chants creating a maelstrom of energy, punctuated only by the ethereal breaks.

Belgian superstars and Labyrinth residents, Joyhauser toughen the groove keeping the main motifs for a solid techy reworking. The drums are more insistent, the energy more visceral. This is a heads-down 3am vibe that works magnificently well.

Kevin de Vries unique take on the trancey end of techno has taken the scene by storm. In keeping with the ideals of the 90s Belgian pioneers such as CJ Bolland and Yves Deruyter his remix goes deeper than the original but builds into an enormous stadium-shaking behemoth which is sure to impress. You can listen to the full premiere of Kevin’s remix exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy !
