Waze & Odyssey have come a long way since they burst onto the scene with early releases on Wolf Music, Tsuba, Disco Bloodbath and first bookings at world renowned Panorama Bar in Berlin.
The British duo of Serge Santiago and Firas Waez now very much have their own fully formed sound. It is one that is based on an infectious dance music purism but that draws on anything from disco to techno plus a subtle range of moods and emotions to make for colourful club tracks with a real sense of soul and drive.
Releasing on cultured labels like Edible for Eats Everything, Relief for Green Velvet and Jamie Jones’ Hottrax, the pair have done everything from rock solid basement jams to low key groovers, delicious deep house via intricate and stripped back tech. A similarly broad and tasteful sound defines their DJ sets: this energetic duo draw on a rich history of digging deep into dance music’s vast reserves, as well as serving up plenty of the freshest new beats, and always leave a lasting impression.
They are a pair who can keep things deep and heady in cosy basement, or scale up their sounds and connect with vast festival audiences in the outdoor sun. As such they are regulars in the world’s best clubs and festivals touring worldwide from Beirut to Brisbane, Los Angeles to Lisbon, Medellin to Manchester.
Next to their undeniable skills as DJs and producers, Waze & Odyssey’s keen ear for a tune has helped establish their own label as an essential outlet for breakthrough talents. Since 2012, W&O Street Tracks has helped to platform new talents like Mella Dee, Ejeca, OC&Verde, Kill Frenzy and Will Easton, all of whom have gone on to big things. Very much at the centre of their own musical empire, Waze & Odyssey continue to be one of electronic music’s most interesting and innovative acts.
Recently, the duo have team up with UK dance legends Alex Metric and vocalist Russoul to present a brand new single ‘Jack To The Future’ on the label ‘Nothing Else Matters’. With combined releases between them on labels including Relief, Unknown To The Unknown, Edible, Anjunadeep, elrow and VIVa, and multiple sold-out shows across the globe, this pairing proves to be the perfect artist combination to produce a straight-up, non-nonsense, jackin’ number. ‘Jack To The Future’ uses a combination of cosmic pads, plucky bass synths and wandering arpeggios married with Russoul’s hooky vocals, wonky acid b-lines and a pulsating low-end; resulting in a dancefloor-ready club anthem.
