Sol Selectas welcome back French duo Amentia, who deliver two original tracks that showcases their organic take on tribal house music. Complimenting the originals is a remix from German artist Noema who is label owner of The Magic Movement and previously featured on Sol Selectas contributing a track to Summer Sol III.

Amentia has been a prominent part of the Sol Selectas family with this being their second solo EP along with many solo tracks on various artist compilations, but their music can also be found on other imprints such as Chapter 24 and Bar 25. Noema has released much of his music via The Magic Movement but has also featured his exquisite style of downtempo house on other imprints including Get Physical.

The music on this EP has a strong concept that tells the story of a man taking part in a shamanistic ceremony. Hypnotised by a psychedelic elixir, his consciousness enters a dream-like state where the lines of reality blur.

Track one “Invocation” uses percussion to represent his sense of reality with the rhythms guiding him along a path filled with swirling winds and heavy storm clouds. Its enchanting melodies create a welcoming aura of mystery added to by fragments of chatting speech and a compelling bassline.

Second is “Conquête De L’Oued “ which is when the man awakes from one layer of the dream to find a mystical horse, which he rides through the desert valleys processing the lessons learned from the elders of his visions. Jovial and reinvigorated the tracks uplifting mood and enlightened energy fully capture this concept, which translates into an invigorating dance floor experience.

Noema provides two versions of his Conquête De L’Oued remix, the first of which is the “Harem Hustle” version, which is a chunked-up version that puts a darker twist on the original. His second version titled the “Darbi Dub” is a more stripped back take that lets the atmospheric elements become a more dominant feature. Both his reworks compliment the release by streamlining the original’s concept for a club setting.

The artwork by Helia Jamali maps out the hallucinogenic adventure of this EP’s unique concept. You can listen to the full premiere of the ‘Harem Hustle’ version exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
