WWD: Hi Daniele and Dave, thanks for chatting with us. How are you?
Dave: Quite good so far. These are very special and remarkable times at the moment and we hope and pray that we all will get through this. We try to stay optimistic and hope that we stand together as mankind and manage to rise as a united society.
Daniele: So far I am good as well and I follow Dave’s words. I hope everyone is healthy, safe and will stick together in these uncertain times.
WWD: We can enjoy your new EP called “Raider” out now on Beatfreak Recordings. How did you come up together doing the EP for Beatfreak?
Daniele: Since some time I am a big fan of Dave’s work and played his track Pulsar quite often in my sets. After some time, we’ve started to write about music and shared ideas of tracks we were working on to get feedback from each other. Long story short, at some point we decided to finish some of the ideas together 🙂
WWD: Tell us about your track “Raider” that the EP is named after.
Dave: I wanted to have something more nasty. The whole title sounded very dynamic and sneaky to me. So while we were working on it, it turned out as a good idea to call it like that. Or maybe we just called it after the chocolate bars. who knows… 😉
WWD: Tell us, guys, how did your DJ career start and what is your biggest inspiration?
Daniele: It’s been a while since my first DJ set, which has always been a hobby for me until I moved to Berlin six years ago. Here I’ve started to produce own tracks and have concentrated on djing full time. Most of the time my inspiration comes during the production process. For example, I play around with synths and melodies and suddenly a sound catches my attention and I can imagine an idea for a new track in my head straight away. Sometimes I also listen to other productions of different genres for inspiration.
WWD: Daniele, your tracks have been supported and heavily played by artists and festivals like Solomun at Tomorrowland, Sven Vath at Warp Warp and more. Tell us how do you feel about it.
I was more than happy when I found out about their huge support. It showed me that I am on the right path and that I have continue my way as an independent self-employed artist. Why should I spend my whole life doing something I don’t really like to then realize my dream when I am old? Makes no sense to me, so it was great for me to see them playing my tracks which motivated me even more to continue.
WWD: What are your plans for the near future? Tell us what we can expect from you.
Dave: For now we are a lot in the studio like pretty much every artist. So we both work on a lot ideas and concepts. That is actually a good thing, when you’re not under such a time pressure. You can also play around and try out things. Maybe something really new and outstanding will be created.
