Coyu returns with the third instalment of the Technostalgia series on Suara. Over four tracks the King of the Cats lays down some serious loopy techno mayhem, showcasing a sound that was synonymous with the scene at the turn of the century.
First up, ‘L’Ultim Ball D’Agost’ opens with a rhythmic percussive layer that grows in tension and energy slowly. Like an avalanche of sound, once it’s up to full speed, it’s impossible to stop and it becomeS more and more intense. ‘Sol Torrid’ continues at pace. Question and answer tones drive the track as more layers add more madness.
‘Suor’ opens with a driving bassline. Percussive layers give the track more form as it powers forward as the synthlines become crazed and intense. Finally, ‘L’Estiu Mes Esperat’ drives forward with a wonky machine funk rhythm reminiscent of ‘Pontapé’ by Renato Cohen which becomes more intense as the hypnotic vibe deepens.
You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘L’Estiu Mes Esperat’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
