Having already clocked huge releases from the likes of Klaudia Gawlas, Simina Grigoriu, Christian Hornbostel and Dustin Holtsberry over the past twelve months, France’s most revered techno imprint, FORM Music, now readies its next mammoth extended player of 2020, with the announcement of Julian Jeweil’s hard-hitting ‘Metallique’ EP.
Warmly welcoming the legendary French producer for his first full-length EP on FORM Music since 2016, the exquisite three-part package is another incredible showcase in dark, driving warehouse techno on the forward-thinking Parisian label, and comes complete with an extra-special remix from FORM Music label boss, POPOF.
Kick-starting the EP with the uncompromising title track ‘Metallique’, Julian goes full-throttle from the off, delivering an intense peak-time cut, bursting with pounding kicks, industrial samples and expertly manipulated synth refrains throughout its thunderous, six-and-a-half minute duration.
Showing no signs of letting up on the flip, ‘Draft’ sees Julian combine deep, rolling basslines with twitchy vocal samples and a mesmerizing, arpeggiated lead as he explores a different, yet equally effective, timbre to contrast with the opener.
Finally, and fresh off the back of his critically acclaimed ‘Open Head’ EP on Solardo’s Sola imprint in June, FORM Music label boss POPOF offers his own unique and unrelenting edit of Jeweil’s ‘Draft’, with big kicks, thumping bass and intricate drum patters providing the backdrop to another epic, multi-layered remix from the Frenchman.
You can now listen to the full premiere of POPOF’s remix exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
