Out of all the names that became synonymous with genre-crossing dance music in the past decade or so, Le Youth remains one of the most lauded ones. The American DJ and producer has been turning heads since he first made waves with his trademark progressive-meets-melodic-techno hybrid tracks in 2013, and now joins forces with Armada Music to deliver ‘Other Voices’, the first track of a complete four-track EP to be released with the Amsterdam-, New York- and London-based record label later on.
Basking in the radiance of the delightful melodies at its core, Le Youth’s long-anticipated debut record on Armada Music brings to light a breathtaking soundscape. With gorgeous chord progressions and ethereal vocal effects that hook listeners at every turn, ‘Other Voices’ makes for an unparalleled listening experience that oozes warmth, sophistication and sheer beauty.
Le Youth: “Like anyone, I have a lot of voices in my head. There are the typical ones like fear, anxiety, self-doubt and envy, but there’s also a voice that just sings and writes songs when I’m not even thinking about music. That’s what ‘Other Voices’ is about. It’s based around a looping vocal motif I pulled from a writing session I did a few years ago, as I like going through old sessions to find inspiration. All the music was based around that one part.”
Wes James a.k.a. Le Youth has been a major force in dance music since his crossover hits ‘C O O L’ and ‘Dance With Me’ stormed the U.K. charts in 2013. Heavily inspired by the deep melodic techno and progressive sounds that came out of Europe from the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, Eric Prydz and more recently Lane 8, Yotto, and Ben Böhmer, he racked up numerous records and remixes plus a quarter of a billion streams in the seven years since, continuously elevating his artistry not through his musical output, but also as a performer through his own headline PRGRSSN tour and his recent inclusion in Lane 8’s ‘Brightest Lights Tour 2020’. Now with Armada Music on board, he enters into a new career stage that starts off flawlessly with ‘Other Voices’.
