Eleatics Records has been a source for WhenWeDip premieres for two years till now. The Ukrainian imprint curated by DJ Kon’ has become the place for such artists as Bedouin, dOP, Karmon, Ost & Kjex from the few to tell about.
In 2019, we premiered the excellent Tim Engelhardt remix for The Organism’s ‘Gypsy’ track, so now Tim is returning back to Eleatics with ‘Sun’ EP consisting of two beautiful compositions by Tim accompanied with the vigorous remix from Fur Coat.
Succeeding that, the label owner DJ Kon’ has addressed a few questions to Tim celebrating the release date.
DJ Kon’: Hello Tim! First of all: thanks a lot for having a talk with us, and, of course, for two beautiful tracks, which we are so happy to release on Eleatics. Where do we find you at now?
Tim: Thank you so much for the trust, I’m happy to release with Eleatics again. I’m at home, in my small studio working on new material.
DJ Kon’: What has been happening with you lately? We see you put out the album on Stil Vor Talent. How long did it take to you to record this one?
Tim: I’ve been working on new music quite a lot over the past weeks and also doing other projects on the side right now. The album on Stil Vor Talent was a long journey and it took me almost 3 years to finish.
DJ Kon’: How did you come to the music world and to the electronic segment in particular?
Tim: I have always been fascinated by the possibilities in sound and very early on, I’ve found myself really hooked on frequency or amplitude modulated sounds in music I listened to.
DJ Kon’: What musicians do inspire you in terms of creativity? Besides electronic artists, if there are some.
Tim: There are so many creative people out there and it’s hard find an exact inspiration.I would guess more than from electronic artists, my music is inspired by design as in interior design, shapes, colors and patterns are a more direct inspiration to me.
DJ Kon’: Tell us about your creative process. What gear / software do you like to use? Do you find yourself more productive during a day or you are a night time person?
Tim: I’m comfortable working either day or night. I use all types of software these days, my favorites would be u-he, Soundtoys, Universal Audio, Softube, Plugin Alliance, D16 and iZotope.
DJ Kon’: I know you mostly play as the live act, do you play DJ sets also? What do you enjoy more: playing live or as a DJ?
Tim: I do know how to play DJ sets, but I’ve been only playing a couple of them so far.Playing live is the more inspiring task to me, but Djing has been growing on me too.
DJ Kon’: What performance has been the most memorable during your career?
Tim: Hard to answer that, but a feeling I’ll never forget was playing Strawberry Fields in Australia in 2017 – such a good festival.
DJ Kon’: That’s certainly everywhere: the electronic scene has suffered a lot due to COVID-19 pandemic. All the major festivals and conferences are cancelled, most of the clubs are shut down. What do you think we should expect in 2021? How soon things will get back to normal? What changes should we wait for after the pandemic is over?
Tim: I’m expecting not too much in 2021, rather trying to find alternative solutions that work for me. Obviously I would love to be back in clubs and events, but that is not a focus for now. I find it hard to predict what will happen, especially with the current state of affairs.
DJ Kon’: Tell us about your hobbies. What makes your mind free and happy to be able to produce? 🙂
Tim: Well, mainly indulging in music that is detached to the electronic music world. I love to listen to all kinds of non-electronic music and it’s certainly one of the biggest inspirations to me.
DJ Kon’: Let us know about your plans and what you would advise to young musicians 🙂
Tim: Quite obvious, but being patient is key, as well as keeping a good work ethic.
