Kaiser Souzai is an artist who first rose to prevalence in the late ‘00s when minimal techno was at its peak and the genre was starting to merge with tech house. Quickly gaining a foothold for having a quirky style that brought the tech house groove to the stripped back style of minimal, Kaiser Souzai’s early tracks had a raw energy akin with what drives the modern techno sound championed by the likes of UMEK and Adam Beyer.
So, it comes as no surprise that Kaiser Souzai’s natural evolution would lead him down a path of releasing techno on labels like Spartaque’s Codex and Christian Smith’s Tronic. Finding success within the techno genre has ensured this veteran artist has stayed relevant within modern club culture, and his latest evolution is the launch of his split personality Purple Kaiser.
Purple Kaiser is a new alias that focuses on deeper sounds and melodic grooves with powerful melodies and those trademark techy undertones that we all know and love.
Following an EP on Bar 25, Purple Kaiser is soon to drop a debut album on his own label Ballroom Purple which is sibling to his techno focused Ballroom Black. Teasing the album with a two-track sampler, we were pleased to hear the tracks “Silence” and “Seen The Lights” which both have a dance floor friendly vibe while also having the strong chord progressions and hypnotising vocals that make for good headphone listening.
The album is planned for early 2021 and the sampler can be purchased from HERE
