Dam Swindle have spent the better part of the last decade running their formidable label Heist Recordings and have now decided it’s time to broaden their scope. Their DJ sets have been an eclectic affair where house, disco, funk and techno are intertwined, but the music on Heist has always been fimrly directed to the warm, soulful and deeper side of house music. With the introduction of the 2 new labels, the boys are clearly expanding their sound. Transient Nature Records is set up as a platform dedicated to the world of machine funk. With a sonic aesthetic of off-kilter techno and electro, there’s as much focus on creating tomorrow’s sound as it is on honoring that of yesterday. Releasing artists in 2021 are Detroit’s Scan7 – who have recently released on Heist in 2020-, Dukwa, Black Cadmium and Maarten’s solo project Wanderist.
10Questions is a project co-founded with graphic designer Bas Koopmans. Musically, the label is focused on italo & proto-inspired house music with a pinch of electro. The music and artwork together construct the total experience of the EP; the desingner submerges himself into the mind of the musician and the record comes to life in the space where music and design meet. The first releases on the label are by house music’s rising star Demi Riquisimo, PBR Streetgang, longtime DS affiliate Lorenz Rhode with a solo EP and an EP with Dam Swindles Lars under their new moniker Sound Support
10Questions will be available on vinyl and digitally and Transient Nature will be a digi-only label. The first release on 10Questions will be by Demi Riquisimo and come out on 26th March. The first release on Transient Nature will be by Dukwa out April 22nd. Stay Tuned!
