The Moscow-based tandem, Volen Sentir, is back with another mind-blowing release on Guy J’s renowned label Lost & Found. The two-track release with over fourteen minutes of innovative dance-floor music is a well-refined work of art. Melodic arpeggios, synthetic baselines, and driving rhythm sections create spotless arrangements delivering positive emotions without words. The sounds are percussive, meditative, hypnotic, innovative, and danceable, but Volen Sentir’s way of expression is more than just music. It is an otherworldly soundscape created to bring the whole galaxy under one groove. The sound of the duo can’t be replicated, duplicated, or cloned. It’s authentic and recognizable from the beginning to the end of this release. The eighty-fourth release of Lost & Found is a treat for an audience with sophisticated taste.
‘Mitra/Hael’ is their second solo release on Guy J’s label Lost & Found. The first one was back in 2020 with their timeless track ‘The Great Escape’. In the meantime, they’ve become one of the biggest acts in the Organic House genre. It was a privilege to get them online and talk about their lives, creativity, and more. You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Mitra’ while reading the short interview we had with the Volen Sentir’. Cherish it!
WWD: What’s unique about your new release, and what inspired it?
2020 was transformational for a lot of people. For us, it was in a time of change. We used the time to become the best version of ourselves. As far back as we can remember, we were both in love with deep and eclectic electronic music. Now, we finally decided to integrate this sound into our tracks. When the pandemic was high, track Hael was born. If you transform this word, it will be Heal. It is a message to the world, an ode to Healing. Mitra from Sanskrit is Friend, the protector who guides you to the right path. In Armenian, Indo-Iranian mythology, Mitra is A God Of Light.
WWD: What’s happening at the club scene in Moscow these days and how did the global health crisis affect you?
We had to postpone numerous gigs worldwide. On the other hand, we’ve got a lot of time to create new visions and experiment in our studio. There are always some massive events in Moscow every month. However, parties are not as frequent as they used to be before the pandemic.
WWD: How do you keep your focus, and what enables you to grow spiritually, emotionally, and creatively?
It is all about balance. We get lost often. You may say that being lost is part of the process. Lost & Found, you know! When people are ready to accept all life’s challenges, the transformation results in spiritual growth. That’s what we do, anyway! We also love nature and everything about it. Walking outside is our favorite thing. Forest is our second home.
WWD: Can you describe your creative process and explain what attracted you to release your music on Lost & Found?
Our creative process is always a new experience. We believe it is crucial not to repeat the same procedure keeping the research alive. We are never trying to make our approach easy. We believe that to be the only proper way to express our artistry. We love Guy J’s vision of music art for a long time. His imprint is beautiful home for deep and uplifting music. A big inspiration!
