RX Recordings welcomes The YellowHeads for a pair of hot new tracks that come back with big remixes from Procombo and Kemal Vatansever.
First up is the tense and hard-hitting techno of Liquid Tensions. It has bright chords, fire hi-hats and groove that powers on taking all with it. ‘Liquid Tensions (Procombo Remix)’ then gets darker, with glitchy perc and menacing bass way down low to ensure a big impact. Omicrom’ is a big, trance-tinged tune for the peak of the night with monster kick drums, bright chords and a real turbo energy. Omicrom (Kemal Vatansever Remix) then rattles the walls with its powerful kick, low slung bass and warped synths. It’s a real roller for the warehouse techno crew. You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Liquid Tension’ exclusively on When We Dip and read the full interview we had with the duo. Enjoy!
WWD: Welcome to When We Dip. Thanks for talking to us! How are things with you guys?
Hello, it’s a great pleasure, for the moment we are fine thanks, although you can always be better haha
WWD: How have you kept focus throughout the pandemic? Did you enjoy the freedom to spend more time in the studio or wish to be back playing gigs?
Well to be honest, the pandemic was long … and we released a lot of new tracks, but what we love the most is playing around the world, it’s a part of us.
WWD: Tell us about your new EP on RX Recordings. How did you hook up with the label and what inspired you to write it?
They actually wrote to us directly, we are usually very busy with our own labels and some releases on very high labels, but the RX team told us about their project and it seemed very well worked and structured so we decided that it might be good to work with them, since they are doing things very well.
WWD: What gear did you use and are you big fans of hardware?
Well, we really are fans of machines, we use them to get ideas, but actually with a good computer, good sound and the right VTS, you have everything you need to make the music you want.
WWD: Do you ever write music with certain labels in mind?
Of course! Years ago we did it like this, when we wanted to sign for important labels for us, now we limit ourselves to making the sound that we like the most and we no longer send demos to anyone, we work the tracks on our own labels (Reload, Reload Black, Replicate) or if we receive any request for a project or label that interests us, such as RX, that we see it very interesting, we do not hesitate to work with them.
WWD: And in terms of your own imprints Reload and Reload Black, what do you look for when signing music? Is it exclusively the sound?
Well, now we also have Replicate Records, this is a sound a little more mainstream, about Reload and Reload Black, we definitely look for the sound, the sound that is correct for our labels, we do not care if the artist is “well known” or be a young artist just arrived on the scene, we just look for the right sound. It’s great, because every week we discover young artists, with just 10 followers who are 18/25 years old, who are making incredible music! We would dare to say without fear of being confused, that many of these producers make much better music than “BIG” artists.
WWD: What are the ingredients for a perfect party in your eyes?
Dark club, not too big, no smoke (please), a great sound (VOID if possible) Techno, Techno and + Techno 🙂
WWD: What are your favourite records to open and close a set with?
To open a set, we have nothing defined, it all depends on the warm up we have before, but to close sets we like to do it with some classic trance, it seems that now this is in fashion, because some “big names on the scene” do it, but we have been doing this for more than 15 years … nothing new hahah
WWD: What goals do you have for the year ahead? What would you like to achieve?
Actually, at this moment, we do not have a defined goal, we simply want the governments to let us work, travel and do what we like the most in life, which is to play in all the clubs and festivals in the world.
WWD: What else have you got coming up/are you working on?
We have a lot of new music that we’re playing at events, to polish (later) the sound in the studio, and we really have quite a few things on the way, on our own labels, and some “big” labels, such as Terminal. M, Senso Sounds and …
