A young aspiring musician turned platinum-selling artist, AVAION’s is a story of dedication and an unrivaled pursuit to create great music.

Amassing millions of streams and charting across the globe, AVAION’s debut single ‘Pieces’ kickstarted the German DJ/producer’s momentum, establishing him as a multi-instrumentalist that dares to blend the boundaries of acoustic and synthesized sonics. Since then, AVAION’s signature production style has continued to stand proud in a league of its own with tracks such as ‘Love Again’ ‘I don’t know why,’ and ‘Fallin’ which exude just much emotive allure on the radio as they do on a nightclub dancefloor.

Earlier this month AVAION shared his latest single ‘Lies’ which sees him explore the depths of deceit in a melancholic, yet deeply dance-worthy and uplifting soundscape.

WWD: Hi AVAION, thanks for joining us. How are you? And what have you been up to lately?

AVAION – I am doing very well. The temperatures are slowly rising, and the sun is also more visible that lifts the mood a lot. I also just finished building my own studio and this is an absolute highlight for me. Before that I always worked from the bedroom. Now I can live out my creativity in my own studio.

WWD: For anyone unfamiliar with your music, how would you describe your sound?

AVAION – I would describe my sound as a mixture of acoustic and electronic elements. I put a lot of emphasis on creating a vibe with melodies and leading the listener into a dreamy world.

WWD: Congratulations on your latest single ‘Lies.’ Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

AVAION – ‘Lies’ is about the personal experience of lying. About how lies can destroy relationships between people. I’ve had bad experiences with it myself and I’ve noticed how toxic and damaging it can be when lying becomes a habit. So, this song is a kind of self-reflection.

WWD: You shot an artistic music video for the release of ‘Lies’ which you also feature in and recently dropped a new merch line. How important is being able to express your creativity to you? And how do keep new ideas flowing?

AVAION – Expressing my creativity is the most important part of it all. I love to do things intensively and always put my head into it. Even for the merchandise, we didn’t just print my name on a t-shirt, we thought about how we could best put the vibe of my music into clothing and designs. I got together with my buddy who is very talented in designing and so we came up with the designs that are now available as merch.

WWD: What are your earliest memories of music?

AVAION – I think the earliest memory of music was in kindergarten. I remember that music had already played a big role for me, and it could even bring me into a kind of meditation stage. I used my mp3 player as a way to relax. Music did something to me, and I was aware that other children my age did not feel that way about music. I knew that music would guide me throughout my life so intensely and from then on, I knew my purpose.

WWD: When you’re not working on your music, how do you like to spend your time?

AVAION – I really enjoy spending time with my friends. each of them is so different and has different goals in life and it always inspires me to hear their story. I have also started to pay a little more attention to my body and enjoy going to the gym.

WWD: In five years where do hope to you see the AVAION name?

AVAION – I hope that my music continues to move the world and I manage to tear down all the barriers. I want to do things that were thought impossible and make people feel the way I feel about music. I have big plans!

WWD: What are your plans for the rest of the year? Can we expect new releases and any live gigs coming up soon?

AVAION – Yes! There are some gigs planned. First only in Europe this year but from next year on worldwide gigs are planned. Also, some new music will come. A new release is already in the pipeline and will be released at the end of May. It will be a very exciting year with a lot of cool things to come.
