After a nearly two-year hiatus, Montreal’s best party Vision is back showcasing another one of its beloved parties to celebrate Halloween. LOST PLANET will feature three amazing international .artists: Francesca Lombardo, Mihai Popoviciu, and Mustafa Ismaeel.
Francesca Lombardo has cultivated a sound of her own via an emotional narrative of dreamy soundscapes, stirring melodies and hypnotic rhythms. Criss-crossing the globe as a DJ and live performer, she’s played monumental shows including IMS Dalt Villa, Burning Man, Tomorrowland, Get Lost, Resistance, Circoloco as well as The Royal Albert Hall. In tandem, Francesca has built up a formidable back-catalogue of music on esteemed labels: Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee, Leftroom, Poker Flat, Bedrock, and her own Echoe and Echolette imprints amongst others.
It’s hard nowadays as an artist to have a standout signature. Mihai Popoviciu is the exception. For over a decade the amiable Romanian producer and DJ has built a body of work characterised by deep grooves, crisp precision, and irresistible energy. Mihai’s singular vision was born in his home town Sibiu (still his home base) which, at the time, lay on the fringes of Europe’s thriving dance scene. It was the early ’90s. Electronic music was flooding London, Ibiza, Berlin but only a trickle reached his ears. “We would tape German TV shows onto cassette and listen over and over,” he recalls.
With no clubs, record shops or dance culture to speak of Mihai’s dream of being an electronic artist seemed remote. He studied architecture and briefly worked in the field, but it was house and techno, not house-building, that was his true calling . “I couldn’t DJ, because there were no clubs,” he says with a chuckle. But he could buy software, so he started making records. Lots of records. Sometimes one per day, for months on end. The work of the determined young artist began to catch people’s ears. His first track was signed to International Deejay Gigolo in 2005, and dozens of releases followed on imprints including Bondage, Highgrade, Poker Flat, Bedrock, Dessous and also his own label Cyclic, established in 2012.
Mustafa Ismaeel is a DJ and Producer from Toronto, who is constantly redefining his musical boundaries while creating vibrant, profound and unique journeys. His multicultural background and nomadic lifestyle is a major influence of his art; Born in Iraq and maturing in Canada has added to the versatility and universe of his music. Mustafa’s attention to detail and ability to adapt to different settings has earned him the respect and appreciation of fans and music influencers worldwide. Crossing multiple genres and styles, his music can be characterized by two main elements: groove and emotion. Sharing his music and energy around the globe, being supported and endorsed by industry legends, such as Damian Lazarus, John Digweed, Nick Warren & Behrouz, along with having multiple releases on well established record labels; Mustafa has nothing but huge prospects to offer.
