For their next musical adventure, Djuma Soundsystem and his label iZIKI head to a part of the world that is filled with energy, drums, and tropical vibes. ‘Orun Aiye EP’ comes from the upcoming Brazilian talent Mezomo, alongside a high-octane remix from NenaHalena.

This deviant artist strives for uniqueness in his compositions and performances, and here, he spoils us with two original productions. The title track ‘Orun Aiye’ blends shakers and percussions with an evolving atmosphere layered by chants and synth themes.

The second track, ‘Aganju’, is named after an orisha, one of the spirits of the Yoruba religion. A wonky bassline and march-like drums guides you through a landscape of chants and flutes melodies, that lately has become Mezomo’s trade mark.

The remix treatment has come from the mysterious NenaHalena, a fast-emerging artist that continues to blow people away with unique productions. Their version of ‘Orun Aiye’ is filled with strong percussion reminiscent of the traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythm ‘Maracatu’, this syncopated grooves locks in the ever-growing stabs and melodies, relentlessly pushing the energy upwards and onwards. We’re certain this one will be lighting up your floors.

You can now listen to the full premiere of NenaHalena’s remix exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
