Paige releases a new 2-track melodic techno EP on Yotto’s label Odd One Out for fans of Eli & Fur, Cassian, and Adriatique. The latest EP from the Tulum-based DJ and producer Paige treads the line between melodic house and electronica, and explores the intersection of spirituality, nihilism and obsession with vocals from Fredrik Ferrier and Megan Kashat.

The title track ‘Obsessed’, which has been in the works for close to two years, is a high-energy house production with a techno edge. It took time for Paige to find the perfect vocalist to finish the track, but singer-songwriter Fredrick Ferrier brought everything together. The lyrics explore themes of love, loss, obsession and possession and amplify the dark side to Paige’s artistry.

“Melodic house and techno can be very mechanical and cold,” Paige says. “When a track is made for the main stage it can lack warmth, but “Obsessed” feels emotional and intimate.”

‘Meaningless’ is the second track on the EP and features vocals from American-Iraqi recording artist Megan Kashat. It’s a move into a more industrial space, with lyrics that ask the listener to question our place on this earth and what we can contribute to the world.

This spiritualism is representative of Paige’s personal journey. Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Paige moved to Tulum in 2020 as an opportunity to look inwards and explore his creativity without the relentless distractions of city life.
“When I moved to Mexico I allowed space and time to reflect and take down the curtain of life,” Paige says. “From that moment, the healing and spiritual process began and I was able to focus on coming back to center, healing old traumas and moving authentically through life.”

This inner work has translated directly to the music Paige makes, leading to a more authentic creative experience for the artist and listening experience for the fans. The EP follows a series of critically-acclaimed releases from Paige, including his 2022 EP Alchemy on Odd One Out, which topped Beatport’s Melodic House & Techno chart for 22 weeks running, later recognized as a Beatport Best Seller of the year. Obsessed continues what Alchemy started, further demonstrating Paige’s ability to encompass the full spectrum of human emotion with dance floor-ready productions.

Paige will tour the EP with three shows alongside Yotto in Denver, Dallas and Houston throughout February and March, and has several more shows and releases planned over the course of 2023.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Meaningless’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
