Jamie Odell aka Jimpster has continued to be in fine form with remixes in his wake this last year for Dave lee, Jon Dixon and Miguel Migs. He his back here on his home label Freerange Records, with two original cuts on the heavy-hitting ‘Tribute’ EP inspired by his many excursions to a country that he loves and plays in a lot, South Africa. The title track features South African vocalists Mavhungu who does an exceptional job in her native language of Venda. The cut gets a further two remixes by Yoruba Soul high priest Osunlade who delivers both a deeper stripped-back edition and a more rolling jazzy rework for loose-limbed dancers. There’s further jazziness in the closing club neatly titled Jacidswing. This is Jimpster doing what he does best, providing us with high-grade, deep house quality business again and again.
You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Tribute’ exclusively on our sister channel Dancefloor Romancer. Enjoy!
