If you thought a bit of snow and negative temperatures would stop Canadians from getting their groove on, think again. Last weekend, Montréal’s iconic festival, Igloofest, invaded the Old Port with a series of outdoor shows and after-parties that kept the city ablaze.
This coming weekend, on January 27th, When We Dip XYZ is proud to host its very own Après-Ski & label showcase at Francesco’s Discoteca, featuring two prolific, powerhouse producers making waves in the Melodic Techno scene. Inaugurating the label’s first release of 2024, INVŌKER joins the XYZ family with his Superhero EP and seasoned label artist, Motip White, returns for remix duties.
INVŌKER is a French electronic music composer and producer based in Paris, France. Melodic, rhythmic and deep, his music is also sometimes influenced by the sound of soulful Detroit techno and French touch tracks from the 90s.
In 2020, he rapidly established himself as one of the most captivating talents of the deep house and techno scene, with his debut release ‘Churches’ on Innervisions. Since then, his work has gained recognition from the likes of Adriatique, Jennifer Cardini, Adana Twins, Frankey and Sandrino, Lehar, Musumeci, and others. Today, with consistent music coming out, INVŌKER is revealing the extent of his repertoire while keeping a recognizable and unique sound. Release after release, he is proving to be a truly unmissable figure.
On January 26th, the artist will release his first EP with When We Dip XYZ. The title-track, ‘Superhero’ is an immediate attention-grabber with its tight groove, upbeat ad-libs and glitchy risers. As the tune develops, the celestial pad and main riff unfold into an ecstatic crescendo.
The constantly evolving arpeggio of ‘Requiem for a Detox’ serves as an invitation to an indelible trip. Soothing vocal touches serve as backdrop, building in intensity and sighing in relief as the different chapters of the track succeed one another.
Motip White is a Cologne based artist known for his wide range of eclectic Techno & House sets. He’s released on Applied Magic, Frau Blau, VOD, and Correspondant.
‘Boose’ is featured on the iconic Innervisions ‘Secret Weapons’ compilation and one of his last releases ‘Tiny House’, has been a staple in Dixon’s 2023 summer festival circuit.
Stay tuned for Motip White’s remix of ‘Requiem for a Detox’, out on February 2nd. Sprinkling his own vocals on the track, he comes in with hard bass stabs, driving hi-hats, and a haunting chord progression. The new full-blown synths play a game of hide and seek with the arp from the original, a symmetry between climaxes and linking thread.
Joining forces at one of Montreal’s hotspots and official Après-Ski venue, Francesco’s, this is sure to be an unforgettable night! So stay warm with us on January 27th and grab your tickets ASAP!
