Guti is an Argentinian musician and live act who cut his teeth in rock and jazz before becoming a key player in the electronic scene. A proponent of the new Latin sound, he has collaborated with local musicians in Berlin to blend South American rhythms with instrumental grooves and fresh synths, landing on influential labels from Cuttin’ Headz to Djebali’s eponymous label.
Meanwhile, Jean Pierre is a tastemaking DJ from New York who boasts a diverse discography on top labels like Desolat, Transmit, and Defected. Now, the heavyweight pairing join forces on Studio 338’s burgeoning imprint for the first time for ‘Va Gustando.’
The sublime ‘Va Gustando’ is a restless and tribal house rhythm peppered with toms, percussive hits and chattery snares. The bass is elastic as it undulates beneath the steamy, jumbled jungle groove and is sure to lock in crowds this summer. Pierre then works once more with Seezar following great collaborations in the past on the likes of BH Records, Cuttin’ Headz and Little Helpers. Their ‘Play It Up’ is a deep, thumping house cut that drives forward on punchy kicks with mysterious pads swirling slowly next to alien motifs that make for an absorbing late-night energy.
You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Play It Up’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
