Corsica’s Workerz is a guy whose sound is consistently mind-blowing. His latest track, ‘I Should Stay’ is simple yet so sophisticated and Indie House Records is proud to give this release the home it deserves. It doesn’t sound like anything else out there right now, but it’s unstoppable on the dance floor.
Ahead of the release, WWD had the chance to chat with the artist about all things music, Corsica, and more.
You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘ I Should Stay’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
WWD: Hey Workerz! Great to have you! Could you tell us a bit about you and your music?
Hi, I have been operating under the name Workerz for 10 years now. I’m currently based in Corsica, my homeland, after spending several years in Paris. I aim to create music with diverse inspirations from all horizons, striving to deliver powerful house music infused with raw emotions.
WWD: How do you feel right now?
I feel great, energized by the summer vibes around here. I’m excited to produce new tracks at the moment because it’s my favorite period to get inspired and dive into my work. I’ve been fortunate to have some cool gigs recently, meeting new people and finding new inspirations. It’s definitely the best time.
WWD: You define yourself as a House Music producer. What do you love so much about House Music?
It’s the fact that the colors in House Music can be incredibly diverse. It feels simple and efficient but offers infinite structural possibilities. It can be serious with a message or purely naïve, simply providing a groove to enjoy. It can be fast or slow and is playable in many ways. It’s something magical that perfectly combines body and soul.
WWD: Coming from Corsica, how is the scene over there?
There’s a lot to do during the summer with many festivals and parties. A lot of big-name DJs come to play in Corsica during this season. Outside of summer, it’s a bit quieter and harder to find great parties or an audience. However, the local scene is really strong, with many producers and DJs playing outside of Corsica and spreading good vibes globally. It still feels like a small world here, but the energy it brings is fantastic. It has an underground past with plenty of possibilities and is creatively very inspired. Big up to the Corsican scene!
WWD: You have a release coming up with Indie House Records. Is this the first time you have collaborated with this label?
Yes, it is! I’ve been talking with Adrien Villanova, the A&R of the label, for a while now. We share a common language about House Music and have a lot in common regarding the music and the scene. I really like his vision and feel supported every time I release new stuff. I noticed their first release with Ramyen before having a release with them or even talking about a collaboration.
WWD: How did you finally end up with a release together?
I was listening to my demos with DJ Un Deux, who encouraged me to send a track to Indie House. I did, and I received warm feedback from Adrien. After some discussions, we realized we were on the same page. I’m really happy to have this release with Indie House Records now. They come up with so many good ideas, and I feel this is the right place for this release. I had the opportunity to meet the label team directly in Saint-Tropez, their hometown, where they have an amazing club called Pablo.
WWD: Did you play at Pablo when you were in Saint-Tropez?
Yes, indeed, and it was totally nuts! What an atmosphere over there! They have created a place where the music is number one, the public is well-educated, and everyone is dancing. It’s such a cool place for house music; it’s warm and the sound is great inside. I hope to come back soon to play there.
WWD: Do you have any other releases planned for the near future?
I have some tracks coming out later this summer, many of which will be released in some VA compilations. I also have a new disco edit coming out only on vinyl in September with Sundries Records. Additionally, some new edits will be available for free next month on my Bandcamp. I’m currently working on a new EP and starting to think about maybe a new album.
WWD: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Right now, I’m looking to build a proper music studio for myself in Corsica, aiming to create a real music office where I can produce more and better. So, I would say I see myself happy inside a beautiful music studio with nothing more to think about than my next release or the next gear I want, a peaceful and harmonious self spreading magical grooves.
WWD: Any last words?
Thanks to Indie House Records for making this release happen. Much love to everyone reading this interview, and I hope to bring more music and projects in the years to come. Cheers!
