GAAL Records proudly announces its debut release, ‘Raise,’ a two-track EP by label founder Simon Sizer. The EP sets the tone for the label’s vision: raw expression, deep emotion, and techno without compromise.
With ‘Raise’ and ‘Drift,’ Simon Sizer delivers a powerful introduction to GAAL Records. The title track builds on layered melodies and pulsating rhythms, crafting an immersive atmosphere that pushes forward with purpose. ‘Drift’ takes a more hypnotic approach, blending deep textures with fluid progression, a testament to Sizer’s ability to balance energy and introspection.
GAAL Records was founded in January 2025 in honor of Sizer’s late father, embodying a philosophy of artistic freedom. The label aspires to be a space where artists can explore their creativity without limitations.
You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Raise’ exclusively on When We Dip. Plus, we caught up with the label boss himself to discuss what the release means to him and what makes GAAL Records stand out. Enjoy!
WWD: Hi Simon! Exciting times ahead for you…Gaal Records is making its debut with your own release. What inspired you to start this label?
Gaal Records is something deeply personal for me. The label is named in honor of my late father, whose unwavering belief in me shaped my journey as an artist. His support gave me the freedom to pursue it without compromise. That same principle is at the heart of Gaal Records —giving artists a space where they can fully express themselves. It’s about music first, always.
WWD: What can listeners expect from this first release?
This release marks a new chapter for me, setting the tone for what Gaal Records represents. I wanted to channel raw emotion into something that feels personal yet universal. Expect depth, tension, and movement. Music that isn’t just functional, but expressive.
WWD: How do you see Gaal Records evolving over time?
The goal is to create a home for artists who want to present their music in a way that feels authentic to them. I want the label to be a place where music speaks for itself, where each release carries a unique identity. As the label grows, I’ll bring in artists who share this vision, fostering a collective that remains rooted in authenticity and the freedom to explore new ideas.
WWD: What defines Gaal Records’ approach to releasing music?
It’s about trusting the music and the artist’s vision. Every release on the label will have its own space to breathe, with no rush or pressure to meet external expectations. I want each record to have a lasting impact, to be something people return to over time rather than just a momentary release.
WWD: In an industry where many labels are trend-driven, how does Gaal Records stand apart?
By keeping it real. The industry can feel like a constant pressure to adapt, to fit into specific categories. Gaal Records isn’t about that. There’s no formula here, just music that resonates. It’s about trusting the artist’s voice rather than shaping it for a market. That’s the kind of label I wish existed more often, so I decided to build it myself.
WWD: Finally, what does this moment mean to you personally?
It’s a full-circle moment. Starting this label is about more than just releasing music. It’s about carrying forward something my father instilled in me: the belief that doing things your own way is worth it. This first release is the beginning of something that will stand the test of time. And that’s what makes it special.
WWD: It’s an amazing release. Congrats on the label and thanks for the chat 🙂
