Swedish producer Dat Schaub returns with a striking new release on Minimal with Love, titled ‘Faraday Cage EP’. A sonic statement that feels both raw and refined, the EP draws deeply from the world of analog hardware and live studio experimentation, capturing the unique energy of hands-on production.
Crafted entirely from live takes and hardware recordings, Faraday Cage EP is a testament to the magic of modular synthesis and outboard gear. The title track emerges from a serendipitous moment—a modular system randomly sequencing a vintage Roland SH-101 produced a bassline so perfectly unpredictable it set the tone for the entire record. From there, the EP unfolds in waves of warm saturation, rolling grooves, and swirling tape echoes, clearly influenced by the foundations of dub techno but rooted in a distinctly modern minimal house framework.
Dat Schaub, based in Malmö, channels a sense of exploration throughout the project, allowing his tools to speak freely and shape the music in real time. Each track feels alive, unpolished in the best way—revealing the human touch behind every knob twist and fader slide.
At the heart of the release lies ‘Liminal Space,’ a deep, hypnotic cut that invites listeners into a meditative zone. With its dusty textures and restrained groove, it perfectly encapsulates the EP’s ethos: experimental, tactile, and deeply personal.
You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Liminal Space’ exclusively on When We Dip Radio. Enjoy!
