They Call Me Steve is a solo project of Dutch musician Jordi van Achthoven, known as ½ of the Dutch electronic music group Tinlicker.

Originally founded in 2022, this electronic project emerged as a personal creative outlet, created during quiet evenings at home. Using a minimalist setup—a desk, chair, and headphones—Jordi creates music rooted in audio sampling, blending fragments from vinyl, CDs, and decades-old projects.

The music is largely electronic at its core, occasionally enriched with guitar, piano, or even accidental sounds like chair creaks and voice memos.

Drawing from diverse influences, including hip-hop, ambient, IDM, and R&B, They Call Me Steve offers a deeply personal and accessible sound. Whether listening to his music in a living room or on a dance floor, the music invites listeners into Jordi’s world of creative exploration.

He recorded a new mix for our Prima Lux series. Enjoy!
