Little Talk with Juno East

Irish producer Juno East ushers in his debut single alongside Gold 88, fusing early 2000s dance nostalgia with modern house production on ‘The Way.’ This is a high-energy, feel-good anthem, influenced by legends like Basement Jaxx, The Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk, packed with driving grooves and an infectious sense of fun.

Released on brand-new Belfast label Limebus Records, ‘The Way’ is tailor-made for both underground and commercial radio / playlists. With his infectious sound and a proven track record behind the scenes, Juno East is one to watch and this single is the perfect introduction.

We sat down with the artist to learn a bit more about his world. Enjoy!

WWD: Hey Juno East, great to meet you. How are you today?

Hi guys, thanks for having me. Right now I’m kneedeep in producer mode, trying out some new sounds.

WWD:Congratulations on releasing your debut single ‘The Way.’ Can you talk us through the track?

Thanks! I actually produced this a few years back when I was in Menrva. I was inspired by how Majestic did the track ‘Rasputin’ with Boney M and thought that I’d love to make something like that. I’m not normally one for sampling but I was scanning through some Earth Wind and Fire tracks and thought this would be a great pick. I had such good feedback at the time regarding the track but we had some other releases in the pipeline so it’s only now seeing the light of day.

WWD: How did the collaboration with Gold 88 come about?

Gold 88 is where it all began for me as I was formally ⅓ of the group back in 2019 when we were signing to Ministry of Sound. Dan (Gold 88), who’s a close friend of mine heard the track and instantly continued wanted to make his mark on the track. He smashed it.

WWD: Where did you grow up, and how did your environment shape your relationship with music?

I grew up in a town just outside Belfast, I come from quite a musical family, in fact the town I’m from (Downpatrick) has been a hotspot for music for decades and has produced some very big artists.

WWD: What’s the scene like in your city?

It’s really buzzing at the moment with festivals like AVA and Emerge.

WWD: What’s the first memory you have of making music?

I started off as a drummer playing in local bands and that pushed me into experimenting with many genres and finally falling in love with house music production as it felt natural for me.

WWD: Can you share some insight into your creative process when producing music? Do you have any particular rituals or methods that help you stay inspired?‍

I don’t think I have a particular process, I hear a track I’m inspired by and just jump in and get my hands dirty, sometimes it will be a bass sound in Serum or Spire or a nice acapella that gets me started.

WWD: If you could play B2B with any DJ, who would it be and why?

That’s an easy answer for me. MK. His style and sound throughout the 90’s, up until now, has been a huge inspiration for me. Absolute legend.

WWD: When you are not busy with music, what might we find you doing?

I love checking out new artists and releases daily, other than that you might find me in the gym.

WWD: Finally, what do you have coming up in the next few months? Feel free to mention anything!

Right now I’m talking to some live agents, so expect some shows soon 🙂

WWD: Amazing! Thanks for the chat 🙂
