Freezing winters, packed after-hours, and a scene that thrives just outside the spotlight is Montreal’s rhythm. This VA draws from that energy.
Guy Laliberté invited a handful of local artists to rework Cirque du Soleil in their own language: raw, stripped-back, and built for the dance floor.
Each remix brings something different to the table, but they’re united by a shared sense of restraint. The grooves are tight and the low-end does most of the talking. You’ll recognize the DNA of the originals, but the context is new.
This VA is about grounding Cirque du Soleil in the pulse of the city. In studios, on dark floors, through sound systems that favour pressure over perfection. It’s a subtle, thoughtful collection that reflects where Montreal is at right now.
As part of Frooogs Records’ ongoing remix series, the ‘Montreal VA’ takes Cirque’s legacy and gives it a new frame — one that feels lived-in, local, and ready for after hours.
You can now listen to the exclusive premiere of Soul of Zoo’s ‘Tzelma’ remix on When We Dip and Guy Laliberté’s ‘Cum Sancto Spiritu’ remix on When We Dip Radio. Enjoy!
