Faithless celebrate 30 years of ‘Insomnia’ with exclusive vinyl release on Sony

Faithless celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic dance anthem ‘Insomnia’ with a special 12” zoetrope vinyl, released exclusively for RSD Black Friday 2025. Out via Sony, the release includes the original 12” track alongside the Monster Mix, Moody Mix and Tuff Mix. The vinyl comes housed in a replica die-cut Cheeky Records sleeve, mirroring the original 1995 release, with the zoetrope design showcasing bespoke ‘Insomnia’-inspired iconography.

The impact of ‘Insomnia’ can’t be overstated. Over three decades, it’s become woven into the fabric of UK dance culture and inspired generations of artists. From underground clubs to festival main stages, the track remains a timeless anthem, still finding its way into the sets of some of the world’s most respected DJs. To mark its 30th anniversary, earlier this month, electronic heavyweights Disclosure reimagined the classic with a brand-new remix, debuting it during their set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. Breathing fresh life into the original while honouring its unmistakable energy, their rework bridges eras and celebrates how ‘Insomnia’ continues to unite dancefloors across generations and continents.

Originally released on Rollo’s own Cheeky Records in 1995, ‘Insomnia’ was a track unlike anything else. With its pulsing bassline, euphoric synths, and Maxi Jazz’s unforgettable spoken-word delivery, it crystallised the restless energy of 90s club culture and the introspective spirit that made Faithless so unique. Featured on the band’s critically acclaimed Mercury Prize–nominated debut album, Reverence, ‘Insomnia’ marked the moment Faithless stepped out of the underground and into global consciousness.

Sister Bliss says: “Can’t quite believe it’s the 30th anniversary of our song ‘Insomnia’ which has become a defining hymn for the dance floor over the decades. It opened so many doors for us – drawing attention to our first album ‘Reverence,’ which was largely ignored upon release …then allowing us to (chaotically) form a live band in order to promote that album, which then lead to tours across the globe, now continuing in honour of Maxi into the 2020’s and beyond.”
