Label head Dan Mela returns once again to his increasingly impressive What Ever Not imprint, this time accompanied by the self declared First Lady of Beatdown Lady Blacktronika for an EP titled ‘Drive Me Crazy’. The release is a four track offering of Chicago house tinged with a modern twist, and is comprised of three separate edits of ‘Drive Me Crazy’ and a remix from Crème Organization signee Alex Israel.
‘Drive Me Crazy’ sees the duo pair up for the first time in what we hope is not the last time. We’re glad to have the pleasure of having the full stream of the ‘Deep Mix’ from the EP, which sounds like a refreshingly modern crossover between Lucio Battisi’s ‘Prendila Così’ and Larry Heard’s 1986 classic ‘Can You feel It’ under his Mr. Fingers alias. A slow moving rhythm, spaced out vocals and lush chords throughout are the hallmarks of this particular track. Press play and get get lost in the nostalgia!
