We’re sure many Montrealers were not at their best last Friday morning… and for a good reason! The 8day team threw one hell of a party at the SAT for the Dômesicle weekly nights, introducing some of their members such as Chiino, Van Did, Rafa Pineda and SinoniM. It was a great way to continue dancing after a massive Piknic pop-up at Les Jardins Gamelin featuring MK and Prince Club. We got there around 11, and at our big surprise the line to get inside the Dôme was huge. Our excitement was rising as we were approaching the dancefloor.
Once we got in, the first thing that caught our attention were the crazy visuals. The 360° experience on the round ceiling was really impressive as everyone was dancing and observing the lightshow. Chiino was playing a nice blend of soulful deep house and light techno that really set the tone to the night. The energy was floating through the crowd as everyone’s feet were stomping and the curly headed DJ was grooving his head to every kick of his set. He played a refined selection of tracks like The Drifter’s remix of It’s You by Lois and Of Norway, and Found airtight (Kassey Voorns Epic Interpretation) by Nick Muir.
The following artist was Grrreat recordings label boss: Van Did. It was an amazing live set that took us into a mystic journey of underground sounds. As the visuals were intensifying, Van Did’s rhythm was at an evolving pace and the room reached full capacity. At last, the remaining people in line made it to the top of the SAT and the doormen stopped letting people join the party as the show was now SOLD OUT. For the full hour, Van Did exhibited a unique style of harmonious melodies and techno vibes that proved once again that the youngster is full of talent!
The third act of the lineup was 8day’s Techno maestro Rafa Pineda. Once again, the visuals were really on point during his set as his music selection was on a darker note. From the start, we knew Rafa was going to drop some banging beats, and he surely did. Any techno-lovers would have been impressed. Half-way through his set, we decided to pay a visit to the rooftop terrace. It was a big open air space, with cozy lighting on a frisky Montréal night that felt refreshing. Since the music was well contained inside, it permitted us to relax and chat with fellow dancefloor partners.
Closing the Dômesicle party was SinoniM, an energetic duo that completely raised the roof of the SATosphere! They performed an exquisite Deep and Tech house set including beats such as Kollektiv Turmstrasse – Sorry I am Late and Dave Seaman & One Million Toys – Everything Comes in Threes (D-Nox & Beckers Remix) that made us lose track of time and kept us dancing until the very end.
This night did not feel like a Thursday night, as the venue was still full at 3am. Hence, we really recommend 8day’s future parties and we shout RESPECT to all the organisers, DJs, VJs and especially all the warriors that made it to the event despite the fact they were working the next morning… We’re sure many Montrealers were not at their best last Friday morning… and for a good reason!
