The inimitable Patlac steps up and delivers a cracking mix to mark the 50th edition of the When We Dip podcast series. It’s been another great year for the German who’s name is synonymous with quality and the mix he’s put together for us is no different. Check out his mix below and enjoy it over the Christmas!

WWD : We’re on the run in to Christmas. What’s the one piece of studio equipment you’d like?
Patlac : I’ve just discovered the “TanzBär” Drum Machine for me.

What’s the best present you’ve ever gotten?
I do not put a high value on material gifts, because there so many other things that are more important for me to made me happy day by day. But if i had to choose one, it could be my first bike, my parents bought me. It was light green.

What’s the one present you’d buy yourself that’s not music related?
Just Yesterday, I found little figures of the comic “The Peanuts”. I loved it when I was a Kid and now Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Woodstock life on the Shelf.

The artist you’ve been impressed by most in 2015? Heard of or unheard of.

Hard to define one in general. There were many small pieces that have brought me from one to another. To look left and right was more important to me.

What’s been Patlac’s highlights of 2015?

Oh, that’s not so easy to pick special thing. The whole Year was just amazing for me. The chance to travel so much and to discover all the new places i’ve never been before was for sure a Highlight.

Do you hold your remix with Matthias Meyer of Wayne Duggan’s ‘ Experiment 1’ as a key part in your year? Were you happy with it? I know we were very happy with the premiere on site! Lots of love.
Funnily enough, we did it in 2014. Due some problems with the vinyl pressing it took a long time to release it. But yes, i’m still happy with it. Sure, you always find some details you would love to change but its what it is.

You collab a lot with Matthias. How did that relationship come about and why does it work so well?
We know us really long, shared an apartment, discovered parts of the music together, play back 2back quite often and, we are friends. I think this all together makes it what it is.

If you had the chance to collab with someone else in 2016 who would it be and why?

I don’t know, I never thought about that. But maybe something from a different style of music?!…

That remix of Wayne’s was part of the first EP for RePublik. What do you think is the key to launching a new label?
Publish good music!

3 tracks that stood out for you in 2015?
… I can’t decide between: the “cool” Unknown, to show my music knowledge, “Supporting Friends” to make them happy or the “Big hits”,who stuck in your head… damn, one of my own has also be inside, for the promotion.

1 personal new years resolution for yourself ?

Reading more books.

1 goal for Patlac in 2016?
To keep the focus more on own material after all these remixes I did. And learn to speak French. Oh sorry that’s two…

Will we see you in Dublin any time soon ?
I don’t know it right now, but I hope soon! I really like the Emerald Isle.
