Sligo boys Brame & Hamo continue to carve out their own special niche in house music with their third great release on their label ‘Splendor & Squalour’. With big releases on Dirt Crew, such as the Lamaj’s Secret EP (which had support from the likes of Fouk and Razor n’ Tape head honcho Aaron Dae), and a litany of high quality remixes – these guys are moving from ‘ones to watch’ to big names on the scene.
The first track on the EP, ‘Kebab Dreams’ maintains their form of funk-infused house, but this time take an almost Bonobo-esque orchestral turn. Cert City shows off their range. A rolling house track, featuring the string and horn features that make their music so attractive, is tied up with a clipped vocal sample that makes this pick of the EP. Retch Wretchedness takes a darker turn, with live drums and strained off-kilter chords throughout setting a moodier turn than the rest of the EP, reminiscent of Kornel Kovacs.
Not one to be missed. Out digitally on the 14th March.
