Claptone – Heartbeat (The Remixes with Mat.Joe & Technasia)

10 June 2016

After taking the world by storm in 2015 with the release of his debut artist album named “Charmer” via Exploited Records, Germany’s mysterious producer Claptone has dropped a couple of outstanding remix packs ever since, as well as some great EPs, also containing brilliant remixes. A few names you read among those releases are Tube & Berger, Doorly, SevenDoors and by that you see he’s definitely not messing around when asking for remixers.

He keeps on having heavyweights provide him the remixes and this time a legend that’s been around for decades comes into play alongside a duo that’s been practically living in Beatport Top 10 charts over the last months. We’re talking about Technasia and Mat.Joe respectively and they present their unique interpretations for one the album’s biggest hits called “Heartbeat” which features vocals by Nathan Nicholson from London band ‘The Boxer Rebellion’. Needless to say another explosive remix pack emerged.

When We Dip got to listen to the remixes and you can check them out bellow.

Heartbeat (Mat.Joe Remix) à An absolute House affair. Extremely groovy, it shows a striking usage of original’s vocal cuts both in the breakdown and the drop. And what a bouncy drop that is! A true Mat.Joe banger, featuring their classic slithering percussive loops, seriously deep drums and a heavy bass driven sequence in the background that properly builds up the atmosphere for a funky moment. Impossible not to nod your head!

Heartbeat (Technasia Remix) à We dive into a bit more ‘techy’ shade of house with Technasia’s reading of ‘Heartbeat’. One just can’t help but get immediately surrounded and conducted by a percussion-driven rhythm while listening to this. A dark and cavernous feel takes control in the breakdown, getting the listener completely lost with fading Nathan Nicholson’s voice remaining as the only reference. What follows are some rather trippy loops combined with unprecedented use of vocal samples from the original, delivering a late night rolling Tech House flow that you just don’t want to end.
