Bedrock – The fundamental principles on which something is based. Transpose that ethos over to an electronic music label and you’ll come across Bedrock Records, the revered imprint of two of the scenes most well known characters John Digweed and Nick Muir. With such an esteemed reputation, that harks back to the labels founding in 1999, maintaining the legacy of the early days is no mean feet. But doing the rounds this time – in exquisite fashion – are Christoph and Jeremy Olander, who bring a tasteful two track EP to Bedrock Records. Titled ‘Last Dance‘, this is definitely one to get excited about.
The first track, after which the EP is named, is ‘Last Dance‘. It’s a progressive beauty, with a gradual layering of sounds that really hit home to listeners the emotion within the music. It feels raw and uncut, as if each beep has a meaning. Yet with all that it still retains the ability to completely destroy dancefloors, with a solid beat that would sound at home at any festival or nightclub. Keep your ears peeled in summer, this one will definitely be a set closer.

Up next we’ve got ‘Dimensions‘. Soft and stripped back, the two lads serve up another piece of progressive perfection. Contrasting synths intersect with some tasty drum beats, while intermittent hi hats keep the whole thing moving. It’s minimal, melodic and, as usual, oozes emotion. Hats off to these two, providing another belter that delivers on every single front.
So there you have it. Short and sweet, two tracks long with plenty of character, Christoph and Jeremy Olander bring a corker of an EP to Bedrock Records. No gimmicks, no dramas, just simple well produced beats from two of the scenes growing talents.
