House and techno. House and techno. House and techno. There are two words that accurately describe Eastern Electrics festival: house and techno. All day and into most of the night, the unmistakable sound of drum beats and synth stabs will be ringing out all over London’s Morden Park on August 6th, courtesy of some of the true titans of the scene. If you’re a house head or techno tickles your fancy, then this one is for you.
There’ll be six different areas to choose from, all of which boast some serious underground talent. Catch Carl Cox and Innervisons honchos Ame at the main stage, or stroll over to the Steelyard to see Hot Since 82‘s Knee Deep in Sound showcase, featuring one of Scotland’s most characterful exports: Denis Sulta.
If none of those get you going then Viva label front-man Steve Lawler will be hosting a Warriors party at The Big Top, alongside Canadian culprit Art Department. And London’s very own Skream will be running things over at the The Bigger Top, bringing his own Skreamizm party with Objektivity owner Dennis Ferrer, Watergate affiliate Butch, and Scottish up and comers Jono Jose & Celino.
So that’s the tech covered, but who’ll be providing the hot house vibes next weekend? Well that’s going to be coming courtesy of one of the UK’s most established and long running music labels: Defected. Doing the rounds this time will be D-Vine Sounds runner Sam Divine, Australian selector Sonny Fodera, and bona fide American legend Sandy Rivera.
And for all the bass heads? Well don’t worry, London’s very own Rinse FM has got you covered. My Nu Leng will be headlining their Star of EE stage, alongside former XOYO resident Oneman, and UK garage legends Heartless Crew.
So there it is, our summary of Eastern Electric’s 2017 lineup. It’s exciting stuff, with enough house and techno to sustain any dance music fans appetite.
