They say things taste better with age. And a certain boutique music festival in the heart of Kent definitely stays true to that. Yup, on the 29th and 30th of September, Nic Fanciulli’s Summer Social festival will be turning five, and to mark the occasion they’ve rolled out a heavyweight house and techno lineup to match. Time to turn on and tune in, because things are looking exciting.
Friday sees The Meadow get taken over by the revered Resistance party, as usual Social suspect Carl Cox graces the decks, with American duo The Martinez Brothers also making their debut. Social founder Nic Fanciulli heads the bill, alongside In The Dark affiliate Cassy, for a Friday opener to get appetites wet.
Now come Saturday its full steam ahead, with three different areas of music. Resistance continue their takeover of The Meadow, this time bringing with them house and techno super-group Appolonia, Terminal M owner Monika Kruse, and definitive UK duo Sasha & John Digweed. Or if you fancy some hard hitting Russian techno vibes, then Fabric will be taking over The Barn, bringing with them Nina Kraviz, German powerhouse Helena Hauff, and their very own resident Terry Francis.
If you’re fancying some fresh air, The Stables – aka a mad woodland stage set beneath a set of trees – will be home to South African talent Black Coffee, Numbers mainstay Jackmaster, and Rumours curator Guy Gerber, while new stage The Caravan will be getting the Heidi, Nick Curly and Sante & Sidney Charles treatment.
So with all those acts to choose from, the fifth edition of The Summer Social Festival sees plenty of new artists make their debut. Add to that the new outdoor stage The Caravan, which sounds fucking cool by anyone’s standards, and it’s safe to say organisers are pulling out all the stops to make their fifth edition a roaring success. So get tuned in people, Summer Social looks set to be a right ol’ shindig!
The Social Festival lands at Kent County Showground on the 29th and 30th of September. Tickets here
