Hey Marcel, pleasure to meet you and congrats on the new LP ‘Ancient Mood’
M: Hi, the pleasure is the same, thank you very much.
Where have you worked on the album? What settings? On the road or in your home studio?
M: In my hometown, Barcelona. Sometimes I will work in my home studio and sometimes at friends studios for further inspiration.
What inspired or influenced it? And has it been a long process putting it together?
M: The greatest source of inspiration was my desire to do Techno again. Some friends have also influenced me to produce the album too. It is actually a compilation of tracks that I have been doing for some time, along with tracks that I did this year. It was a long process.
You’re putting it out on your own label, Fire & Fog Recordings. About the label, what’s the aim, the vibe?
M: Fire & Fog is a label that has been inactive for more than two years. My intention as such was to reactivate the label with an important release. After this come interesting things in the near future, such as vinyl releases and many from interesting established, and new artists.
What are the good and bad bits about having your own label?
M: The positive is the freedom to release music and communicate. Perhaps something negative is not knowing what to release on the label itself or in the label of friends or great figures … You must take stock of the productions that are made and study where they can best fit as an artistic proposal. If this is done well, I don’t see anything negative
Is it inspired by any other labels? Any you would like to end up like?
M: I really like “Figure” of Len Faki, as well “Ei8ht” of Eats Eaverything and Andres Campo, truncate is also excellent, just to name a few of my favourites.
What else have you got coming up/are you working on?
M: I’m working on upcoming releases for my label and other labels that I can not mention right now, but I will communicate it very soon 🙂
