26 June 2020

This is the Afro house veteran Djuma Soundsystem‘s first official release with up and coming Afro/Latin producer and percussionist NenaHalena. The collaboration was so fruitful, that it has lead to them being close friends, and NenaHalena to join Djumas Soundsystems Afro house movement “Iziki”, as well as new productions in the pipeline.

There’s now two new tracks coming out, with remixes from some of the most essential artists in the business at the moment: Luna Plane and David Mayer. It has been thoroughly road tested by Djuma Soundsystem himself and Stil vor Talent‘s label boss Oliver Koletzki for a year now. It needs no more proof to be able to awake madness on bigger festival stages, and intimate club floors alike.

The original ‘Rim Jhim’ has a slow and heavy techno feel to it, then being opened up by an almost the Doors-like organ. Then the old world meet the modern sounds of the new world, laced with earthy percussion, kalimba and accentuated with bird-like trills and thrills.

The experienced Mr. Mayer keeps the tension of the original, and lends his inimitable touch to match, laying it down thick with euphoric exotica and a carnivalesque vibe. A deep, but punching beat, glazed with a dreamy tales on top.

You can now listen to the full premiere of David Mayer’s take on ‘Rim Jhim’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
