Where there is a stout and strong spiritual power behind the artist’s mind and the bright interest to bring the originality to the music, the uniqueness comes out as an outcome. The Ukrainian artist Roman Yarmolenko stage name of The Organism is the entire example of what is said: multi-genred, always unpredictable producer with the signature style embracing the best of hypnotic bass vibrations, the exciting vocals, and the mystic ethnic sounds.

Starting the career far away in 1999 as DJ Alfred, he managed to come a long way from the young resident of the top venues in Kyiv to the successful sound producer. In 2013, Alfred decided to leave the boring mainstream sounds and started to experiment with the sound attracting young musicians, singers, sound engineers to his productions and started his new alias The Organism. In the end of 2017, his ambitious work has given the first feedbacks from dancefloors guru Solomun.

Today after recently launching his own imprint “Organic Tunes” we sat down with him to find out more…

WWD: How are you, what’s good, what’s bad for you?

I’m well and find it awesome when people can live in harmony with themselves, but at the same time it’s an awful situation we obviously find ourselves in right now  but things will get better eventually. 

WWD: Have you been able to make use of all the extra time you’ve had at home this year? What have you lent your extra time to?

As we can observe, everyone has got a bit more of extra time than usual. And surely I make the use of it, so I’ve been spending more time in the studio. And moreover, I’ve launched my own label, Organic Tunes 🙂

WWD: How hard has it been to make dance music without going dancing?

I’m never without music and dances, they are always with me. It’s like the language of the spiritual world. This stream flows in and out of me and that gives me the signs that I’m alive, and I’m incredibly happy about it.

WWD: You new label Organic Tunes – why now for a new label?

I can express myself 100 per cent in this way and I can bring my message to people. It’s just the time has come to share my ideas with others.

WWD: What inspired it? What’s the musical aim and vibe?

My main aim is to change hearts for the better, to make the world more organic via music. All of us are the one connected organism, but many are not aware of that, unfortunately…

WWD: Are there any labels you have always looked up to that you would like to emulate?

Throughout my music path I’ve always admired various artists, musicians and labels. To date, I enjoy the stuff that Solomun and his Diynamic team do. It’s kind of inspiring for me. 

WWD: Will it be just for your own stuff right now or for anyone who has the right sound?

Firstly, I decided to release my 5 tunes and additionally remixes to them with my “musical partners in crime” to show our main concept and what exactly we need.

WWD: Tell us about the visual identity of the label and how important artwork is for you?

We’ve taken the direction to organics, I mean we’ve been using ethnic music instruments, voices and of course artistic painting (I’m speaking about the illustrations for the cover of the label). That’s really important for us, since robots and artificial intelligence are advancing all spheres of life these days. We are intending to do everything with all our hearts and love.

WWD: And the first new Orion EP, is it a musical manifesto for the label, as it were?

As I’ve mentioned the first 5 releases are samples of what we want to see on our platform. And obviously “Orion” is the debut. 

WWD: What’s next for the label, what does the future hold?

Further we’ve got lots of music, dancing and fun for the rest of the year, and early 2021.

WWD: Will there be albums at all, or label parties, or anything like that?

We’ve got plenty of plans, huge ambitions and crazy ideas to fulfill, including parties, albums, videos and merchandising. Just stay tuned.
