Montreal-based pair Hicky & Kalo are at the core of the new wave of progressive house artists driving the scene forward. The rising duo established their imprint Plaisirs Sonores Records in 2017 and it has rapidly garnered a stellar reputation for bringing together both the best in emerging talent and the tastemakers that have defined the genre. The label has featured work from the likes of Armen Miran, Agatha Pher, Budakid, Sahar Z, Rodriguez Jr, Kamilo Sanclemente, and many more. The latest outing assures that ascent continues as two of the most sought-after names in the progressive world come onboard to remix the ‘Borealis’ EP from the PSR founders.
Hernan Cattaneo makes his return to the label with partner in crime Soundexile to take on ‘For Better Days’, turning in a staunch groover with a slow, mesmerising build. Their rework retains the vibrant original melodies, while layering some deft melodic touches of their own.
As for ‘Borealis’, Soundgarden boss Nick Warren is joined on duty by rising Argentinian producer Nicolas Rada. The pair head straight for the club with a powerful, driving retouch. The remix pairs a pulsating bassline and a thunderous kick drum, coating the surface with tense atmospherics.
