Vivrant’s first release of 2022 brings an enthralling collaboration with Seoul-based South Korean label CRAFT AND JUN. The project pairs Vivrant’s core family of acts consisting of label boss Jeremy Olander, Marino Canal, MOLØ, Viggo Dyst and Khen with CRAFT AND JUN’s ditto. With the Swedish label’s trademark atmospheric and melancholic ID at its core, the project creates a genre-blending body of work that ranges from melodic techno, organic house, emotionally-laden electronica to breaks.
In its relentless pursuit to pave its own way in the world of modern electronic dance music, Stockholm-based Vivrant initiated the project alongside CRAFT AND JUN founder Jun Beck in an attempt to build a creative and cultural bridge between west and east, and expose their respective core artists to new new sources of inspiration with the purpose of aiding them in developing their artistry.
First out the gate is Vivrant’s founder Jeremy Olander’s remix of DAHEE and Swimrabbit’s ‘shy creatures’ slated for a March 4th release. Originally released in 2020 as a part of the duo’s mini-LP ‘POND’, Jeremy’s remix pays homage to the original by maintaining its ambience, while adding a thumping drum pattern, soaring chord-progressions and a trademark melancholic lead-melody pegged to bridge the gap between winter and spring on dance floors across the world.
Second out the gates with a Spotify exclusive release on March 11th is budding Spanish superstar Marino Canal’s remix of george’s ‘swimming pool’. Originally released in 2018 as a single, the original track deviates from the South Korean star’s usual upbeat and happy-go-lucky style of output and inspired the Afterlife and Siamese mainstay to create a leftfield non-dance floor interpretation. Still true to his ominous-sounding style of dance music with elegant drumwork, sinister textures and eerie atmospheres, his remix of ‘swimming pool’ is set to take fans on a listening experience unlike anything previously heard from the Spaniard.
Third out the gates with a Spotify exclusive release on March 18th is budding Swedish star Viggo Dyst’s remix of DAHEE’s ‘Good Morning’. First released in 2020 on the singer/songwriter’s two-track EP No Worries, the original is a charming, stripped-down retro slow-burning ballad of a groover. Coming off his recently announced debut mini-LP on man of the hour DJ Seinfeld’s Young Ethics, Viggo Dyst masterfully repurposes the song’s key elements and takes the track from the ballroom to the sweaty, dark Bristol basement. Taking inspirational cues from late 90s golden era trance and early 2000s garage, Viggo’s remix is a sonic homage to the UK rave culture with a fresh coat of paint.
Fourth out the gates with a Spotify exclusive release on March 25th is budding Swedish star MOLØ’s remix of CokeJazz’s ‘songs we loved. First released in 2019 on the singer/producer/songwriter’s three-track EP ‘LIMBO’, the original is a beautiful electronica and house-infused slow-grooving opus of a ballad. Merely a few years into her foray as a producer, MOLØ masterfully repurposes the song’s key elements and adds layers of additional trademark MOLØ melancholy. A seemingly slow-burning record, the almost ten-minute long composition leaves the listener bewildered by the thought of where MOLØ’s exponentially developing production skills will take her.
Fifth and last out the gates with a Spotify exclusive release on April 1st is Israeli organic house maven Khen with a remix of george, Cosmic Boy and pH-1’s ‘water. First released in 2020 on the two artist’s collaborative five-track EP ‘Love in summer’, the original is an endearing, blissful and funky summer scorcher. As one the best-selling organic house producers on Beatport with a discography spanning labels such as Sébastien Léger’s Lost Miracle, Guy J’s Lost & Found, Above & Beyond’s Anjunadeep and John Digweed’s Bedrock, Khen’s remix will take punters worldwide on groovy sonic journey from Seoul to Tel Aviv.
