Half a decade has flown by for WAYU Records, and from its conception, they’ve been committed to presenting up-and-coming artists worldwide who are passionate about their craft and bringing us their unique and eclectic sounds to move and inspire us. Based out of Miami, at WAYU Records loves to think outside of the box and believes in the notion that music should not be tied down to just one sound.

Over these primary five years, the label has had the pleasure of bringing us releases from over 50 international artists, all of whom have contributed their own pinch of spice to conjure up a special variety that makes WAYU Records what it is.

In celebration of this year’s anniversary, they have selected some of WAYU’s core members (with a few fresh faces) and put together a five-part compilation that reflects the array of genres the label has released, from downtempo to deep house to melodic techno.

Part one of the compilation leads you into the South American heat and features Stories of Dharma, Cristian Monak, and collaborations from Seba Campos & Fida, and Desierto Y Agua with CYMA and MUTA, who were heavily influenced by South America’s compelling nature and culture. The allure in the romantic languages spoken by locals is enticing, but it’s the jungle in the distance calling you to explore its mysterious depths that binds you into a spell.

Part two carries you off into the dusty desert, where the lands are barren and vast. The sweltering heat beats down on you, and signs of life are far and few in between. The mirage that manifests through squinted eyes offers refuge in a dire moment. Artists like Dan Bay & Max Clouth, Anber, DBRA, and Shunus invite you into their desert oasis for a chance to embrace your surroundings.

Next, ‘Come one, come all’ rings clear as part three arrives with the traveling circus and dives into the fun and grooviness of downtempo. The leading acts are Altriparty & Hyspsidia, Jerry Spoon, Juanma Salinas, and ÜNAM and they came together from all over to play sly, fun games with the eccentric crowd. Under this tent, the most bizarre and brazen are expected in this playful, offbeat world. There is fun to be had in every corner of this playground, the only question is: where to indulge first?

The fourth part is the sign you’ve been waiting for to close your eyes and let yourself drift up high above the clouds and into a hazy realm created solely by the dreamers. Bouncing along in a lucid, euphoric state with no sense of time or structure, you can get lost in a blissful daydream with ease. The featured artists include Mujia & Tajo, Ben & Vincent, MIICHII, and King Ben, and they wrap you up in a light, warm embrace in a world where your heart’s desires are in the limelight.

At last, the final fifth part of the compilation takes a turn down a darker, edgier passage, and blasts you into the cosmos. New dimensions and puzzling vortexes await you and beg to be deeply explored. The curiosity coupled with fear of the unknown and the undiscovered makes for a thrilling ride, and the WAYU Records artists Yöurr, Nhii & Pippermint, Adrian Schneider, and Alex Kaminski equip you with a mysterious soundtrack to accompany you as you go about your cosmic adventure.
